Transcript of Lisa Leslie
Lisa Leslie was born on July 7th, 1972 in Gardena, California. She gets her tallness from her mom, who was 6ft. 3in. tall. She started playing basketball in middle school, but continued to play at Morning side High School. While at Morningside, she led the team to win two state championships. Later, she attended University of California and was name the 1994 National Player of the Year. Also in college, she went to the 1996 Olympics, and help the women's team win the gold medal.

Lisa Leslie married Michael Lockwood. They have two children, a son named Michael Joseph and a daughter name Lauren Jolie. She is currently 41 years old.
Lisa Leslie is a great basketball player. She is a great role model for young female basketball players. She has greatly influenced my basketball career as a player and a Christian.
The Start of Basketball
With Lisa being six feet tall in seventh grade, she hated when people asked her if she played basketball. Then that year, she tried out and made the team. Since then, she fell in love with basketball and played forever.
In 1997, Lisa started a contract with the Los Angeles Sparks. Lisa helped her team win two WNBA championships. Also while playing in the WNBA, she went to the Olympics four times. Then in 2009, she retired from playing basketball. Duirng her career, she scored 6,200 points over her twelve years playing. She also holds the title for being the first woman to make a slam-dunk in an official game.
Life After Pro Ball
In 2009, Lisa wrote an autobiography called Don't Let The Lipstick Fool You.
She has worked as a sports commentator and analyst for channels like NBC, ABC, and FOX Sports Net. In 2011, Lisa returned to the Sparks as an investor, and owns part of the team. She also created the Lisa Leslie Basketball and Leadership Academy, where she teaches kids her knowledge and skills of her favorite game, basketball.
