Food In Things Fall Apart As we see in the novel of Things Fall Apart, Food was an important part of the Igbo society. Kola Nut The kola nut has a bitter flavor and contains caffeine, In the novel things fall apart the kola nut is an important part of food culture, it is often used to inogarate celebrasions. For example "he broke the kola nut saying we should all live." Locust Locust is the swarming phase of short-horned grasshoppers of the family Acrididae. Yams Yams was the an important part of the Igbo diet and their agriculture. Palm wine Palm wine is an alcoholic beverage created from the juice of various species of palm trees such as the coconut palms. It was the most important beverage and a gift of respect. The importance of food in Culture Food was not only important for their survival but was also a significant part of the Ibgo culture. it was used in celebrations and offerings and considered it to be one of the gods.
