It is a story of the emperor penguin's constant struggle against the elements while securing the birth of an egg.

The Beginning
The story begins in the most obvious chronological of orders, at the beginning.

While life is not impossible, as shown in this video: life is a constant struggle from the start

Even the smallest flaw in the process
can lead to the untimely death of the
unborn baby
Struggles of Winter
Surviving the elements is not the only hardships of the emperor penguins
Females must trek over 62 miles just to feed
Females may become the prey on their hunt
Males go 4 months without food, may starve
Chicks need protection from predatory birds
While the overall theme of
March of the Penguins
is about life and death. Luc Jacquet sees more than just that. He sees a unique struggle of the only creature to live in this frozen wasteland
Females are reunited with their families
Males are able to begin their march for food
The life of the chick now begins

This is a nature documentary depicting the emperor penguin's in their natural habitat without the influence of human interaction.
It has cinema verite style of filming with the use of portable cameras sometimes attached onto the subject. Many types of cameras could not withstand the harsh weather of Antarctica.
The editing by Sabine Emiliani is the reason the box office generated so much revenue.
Budget: $8 Million
Box office: $127,392,693

With the voice over done by Morgan Freeman, the film left the audience with a sense of power and strength originating from the penguins.
