2- These ships range from 20 to 100 meters in length and accomplish a variety of tasks. PSV 3- The primary function for most of these vessels is transportation of goods and personnel to and from offshore oil platforms and other offshore structures.

4- Platform Supply Vessel usually equipped with Dynamic Positioning System.

5- In the recent years a new generation of Platform Supply Vessel entered the market, usually equipped with Class 1 or Class 2 Dynamic Positioning System. Stand- by Supply Vessel The primary means of rescue of offshore personnel from the sea is often a standby vessel, which is a vessel that attends on permanently or temporarily manned installations. Stand- by Supply Vessel Stand-by vessels may be stationed up to 5 nautical miles away from the installation they are protecting. Functions of Supply Vessel 1- Laying and handling of anchors and mooring lines for offshore floating drilling and production platforms.

2- Fire Fighting System:
DNV, LRS and ABS for FIFI I, II and III classifications stipulate the basic requirements for fire fighting systems equipment up to a capacity of 10,000m3/h. MPSV refers to the versatility that is offered by the modern design of off-shore support vessels where a number of different functions are combined onto one vessel. For example, being able to combine a PSV supply role but also offer extended accommodation and ROV support from the same ship. AHTS These are used to towing and anchor handling and are fitted.

It is common knowledge that oil rigs are located in the middle of the ocean or in the high seas. But just as this is easy to understand, the question arises that what type of vessels help such oil rigs reach the middle of the ocean? The anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTS) is the answer to this question.

The anchor handling tug is a naval vessel that is solely concerned with the objective of either tugging or towing an oil-rig or a ship. When it comes to oil rigs, these tugs form the most important necessity as without their help, it would be impossible to place oil rigs in the required sea and oceanic areas. 5- Functions of Supply Vessel Cargo 2- What is Supply Vessel ?? 2- What is Supply Vessel ?? A small ship or tugboat used to tow offshore platforms to a designed location and assist in anchoring them to that location or to transport supplies and people to offshore drilling rigs or other maritime vessels. Depending upon the services required a supply vessel may be designed as an anchoring handling tug supply vessel or a platform supply vessel. 6- Offshore Rescue Assistance

9- Unloading deck cargo and Liquid cargo to rigs and production platforms

10- General support, construction support, maintenance support, and underwater pipeline inspection

11- Great capacity of carrying out of equipment and a personnel Functions of Supply Vessel Cargo A primary function of a platform supply vessel is to transport supplies to the oil platform and return other cargoes to shore. Cargo tanks for drilling mud, pulverized cement, diesel fuel, potable and non-potable water, and chemicals used in the drilling process comprise the bulk of the cargo spaces. Fuel, water, and chemicals are almost always required by oil platforms. Certain other chemicals must be returned to shore for proper recycling or disposal, however, crude oil product from the rig is usually not a supply vessel cargo. 6- Machinery and Propulsion System Diesel electric power and propulsion plant 690V - 60Hz
