Battle Scars by Lupe Fiasco ft. Guy Sebastian
The artist met up and wrote this song with an Australian named Guy.
This song was released on August 10, 2012 as a hip hop song.
Introduction
Can you guess my artist or song?
Guy said this artist doesn't rap about booty shaking or cash. That's exactly what he wanted.
Poetic Category
I feel this falls under the lyric poetic category, because Lupe expresses his thoughts and feelings throughout the song. He is not telling a story.
Example: "The wound heals but it never does. That's cause you're at war with love"
Rhyme Types
I found 4 different end, full, masculine rhymes in my song.
There were 3 end, slant, masculine rhymes.
There were also 3 internal, full, masculine rhymes.
And lastly there were 2 end, slant, feminine rhymes.

Sound Devices
The consonance I found in my song was the letter t.
9 different verses have a true rhyme scheme. This means the last syllables in words have the same last sound.

An example of the true rhyme types in my song are in lines 8, 9, and 10. "Never let a wound ruin
me
. But I feel like ruin's wooing
me
. Arrow holes that never close from cupid on a shooting
spree
."
The assonance I found in my song was with the letter e and o.
And there were quite a few repetition sound devices in my song. Some examples were me, it, does, love, your at war with love, and but it never does.
There wasn't many figurative types of language in my song. I did find one though.
Figurative Language
An idiom occurred twice in my song in lines 19 and 20. It quoted, "Trying to write yourself a rifle, maybe sharpen up a song."
These lines are not literally meaning what they are saying. The author of the song was not literally meaning that he was going to write a rifle and sharpen a song. It was just a figure of speech.
Lupe did not literally mean that he was going to write a rifle and sharpen up a song. He was using a figure of speech.
