What is LEED Certification
4 levels of LEED Certification
Benefits
Drawbacks
Conclusion/Solutions LEED
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
-Green Building certification system
-Promotes sustainability in key areas: energy savings, water efficiency, improved indoor enviornmental quality
-Developed by the Us Green Building Council (USGBC)
-LEED is flexibile enough to apply to all Building types
4 Levels of LEED Certification
Certified 40+ points
Silver 50+ points
Gold 60+ points
Platinum 70+ points LEED Certification is based on 100 point system
With 10 bonus points available
Sustianable sites 21
Water Efficiency 11
Energy and Atmosphere 37
Materials and Resources 14
Indoor Environmental Quality 17
Innovation in Desgin 6
Regional Priority 4

Sustianable sites: LEED encourages the selection of sites and land-use plans that preserve natural ecosystems and enhance the health of the surrounding community. Water Efficiency:requires a building to cut water use by at least 20% over the baseline and awards further reductions beyond that.
Energy and Atmosphere:encourages a wide variety of energy strategies Materials and Resources:encourages choices that include recycled and recyclable content, regionally produced materials, the use of materials made from rapidly renewable resources, and the reuse of products and materials. Indoor Environmental Quality:promotes strategies that can improve indoor air as well as providing access to natural daylight and views and improving acoustics. Innovation in Design:: projects that use new and innovative technologies and strategies to improve a buildings performance well beyond what is required by other LEED credits. Regional Priority: A project that earns a regional priority credit will earn one bonus point in addition to any points awarded for that credit. Benefits Enviornmental:
•Enhance and protect ecosystems
•Improve air and water quality
•Reduce solid waste
•Conserve natural resources
Economic:
•Reduce operating costs
•Enhance asset value and profits
•Improve employee productivity and satisfaction
•Optimize life-cycle economic performance
Overview Issue What is LEED? 4 Levels of LEED Health and Community:
