Hudson bay is the largest bay in the world at 1,230,000 square kilometers and the bay is 1,370 km long and 1,050 km wide. Hudson bay is in the north Atlantic ocean. There are many islands in the bay mostly on the east side of the bay.

Henry Hudson made two unsuccessful sailing voyages in a search of an ice-free passage to Asia. In 1609, he went on a third journey, funded by the Dutch East India Company, that took him to the New World and the river would be given his name.
