Maya Calendar; The end of the world?
On 13.0.0.0.0, the December solstice sun will be found in the band of the Milky Way. We can call this an alignment between the galactic plane and the solstice meridian. This is an event that has slowly converged over a period of thousands of years, and is caused by the precession of the equinoxes. It will mark the time it took the sun to end up on the band of the Milky Way.
Some historians find that in some way the Maya today are still facing or dealing with circumstances as a result of the Age of Exploration and Colonization. What might some of those effects be? What changes or rights should the Maya people recieve today?
