Transcript of Copy of What is Allusion in Literature

Allusion In Literature, Allusion is a reference to a well-known person, place, or event from life, pop culture, or literature made within a story or piece of literature. To create an allusion you first need a point to reference: Something your audience can easily identify and relate to Most audiences know Star Wars even if they haven't seen it. This is a common reference point. Allusions can be straightforward or subtle. Straightforward Subtle Authors (and directors) use allusion to engage their audiences, add to their understanding of the characters, setting or plot and to honor their favorite pieces of work. Find an allusion:
1. Comb through a previously read text and find an allusion.
2. Explain--why do you think the author used this allusion? Look it up if necessary.
