Chile Earthquake February 27 2010.

Which Cities Did The Earthquake Hit?
The seismograph shows that the country's capital Santiago moved 11 inches in a west direction. Even Buenos Aires which is 800 miles from the epicentre moved an inch.
Who Were effected?
According to the official sources, there were about 525 people who lost their lives and about 25 people missing. The earthquake caused $15-30 billion damage. On March 10, Swiss Reinsurance Co. estimated that the Chilean earthquake will cost the insurance between $4-7 billion.
What Caused The Earthquake?
Where Did The Earthquake Happen?
The Chilean earthquake happened on the coast of the Central Chile on Saturday 27th February 2010 at 3:34 am. Having the magnitude of 8.8 on the scale, which lasted for about 3 minutes. It was the 6th largest earthquake ever to be recorded. It felt strongly in 6 differen't Chile regions. Now theres only 80 % of the population.
Chile is on the western coast of South America. This is the boundary between 2 tectonic plates which are the Nazca plate and the South American plate. In this region the Nazca plate is moving eastwards towards the South American plate. The Nazca and the South American plate are converging.
