Revolutionary Armed Forces Of Colombia A.K.A Fuerzas Armadas Revoluncionarias De Colombia (FARC) Farc has between 9,000 and 12,000 members and several thousand supporters. Farc was established in 1964 as a military wing of the communist party. Oldest, largest and most capable and best equpited marxist insurgensy Goal: To replace the current Columbian government with a Marxist Regime Enemies: Columbian government and any other country trying to help supress the FARC. Guillermo Leon Saez a.k.a. Alfonso Cano is the main militant leader. Victor Sanrez a.k.a. Jorge Bricno Mono Jojoy Thousands of young children; 30% younger than 18 years old Organized along military guidelines and include some specialized urban fighting units. Based out of Columbia, Venezuela, Panama and Ecuador The FARC is supported by taxation of illegal drug trade and Venezuela supports the group with medical supplies and a safe haven for the group members to reside. FARC targets the government of Columbia and it's officials. Kidnapping Mortar Attacks Hi-Jacking Guerrila and conventional militant actions against Columbian leaders Foreigners are subject to kidnapping for ransom and political leverage 2002; plane hi-jacking and kidnapping of Columbian senator. August 7, 2002; Large Mortar attackon Presidential palace. Threat level to the USA; if the US were to get involved in the war between the Columbian government and the FARC, the US would be a direct target for the FARC. Main militant leader of the FARC.
