EXPERIMENT REACTION DISTANCE. Aim To see what your reaction distance is when you drop a ruler in the air. Hypothesis I think that people that write with their left hand will react better with their left hand when you drop a ruler.
People that write with their right hand will react better with their right hand.

Equipment A ruler
Paper to record results
And a three people from the class.

Method 1.A person from the class was picked.
2.The partner gets a ruler.
3.The partner holds the ruler up vertically.
4.The chosen class member puts his or her pointer and thumb 5cm apart at the bottom of the ruler. (make sure your thumb and pointer are in line with the 0cm)
5.The partner drops the ruler at any random time and the chosen person tries to grab it with their thumb and pointer.
6.Then measure the centimetres that their thumb is resting on.
7.Record the result into a table.
8.Repeat steps 1 to 7 three times
9.Then find their average reaction distance.
10.Repeat on the other hand.
Discussion The results show that people that write with their left hand reacted better with their left hand when the ruler was dropped.
People that write with their right hand reacted better with their right hand.
These results happened because they use there writing hand more then their other hand.
To improve the investigation I could test it on more people. To expand the investigation I could put a metre ruler on the wall and get the people to catch it with their foot to find another reaction distance.
Jaydn averages were very close because he writes with his left and bats with his right hand.
Conclusion The hypothesis that right handed people react better with their right hand and left handed people react better with their left hand is correct. This was shown when I did the test on five
People from my family.
