The differing views of Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War The Liberal party of Australia supported the Vietnam war The Labor part of Australia opposed the war and conscription The USA supported Australia in the war Opposing groups where not for conscription and sending their sons to fight in war Bye these groups that opposed included the save our sons organisation, conciencious objecors and the draft resistors union the first person to be jailed for defying conscription was a 21 year old man named John Zarb He only served 10 months of his time as protesters helped to free him On the other hand groups that supported the war did so in attempt to save australia from a communist invasion. If South vietnam fell to the North's rule, the rest of Asia would soon follow, Australia included. In case you didnt know good side bad side The liberal party of Australia supported the war by sending more troops and bringing in concription for 20 year olds 100,000 protesters took to the streets of melbourne opposing this saying that it is causing death and destruction
