Observation: The color of rice remain the same.

Observation: It immediately turned black.
Conclusion: Yes, it contains starch.
Biuret test for proteins:
Observation: It stayed light blue because of potassium hydroxide and copper sulfate.
Conclusion: No, it does not contain protein.
Lipid test-test for fats and oils:
Observation: It got cloudy after about 7 seconds.
Conclusion: Yes, it does contain fat.

Test for glucose or fructose(Monosaccharide):
Observation: The color of tofu doesn't change.
Conclusion: No, tofu doesn't contain glucose or fructose.

Observation: Its color changed to yellow, as a few drops of iodine is added to the food sample.

Observation: Oil does not change it color. The color remain the same

Observation: The food sample did not turn black after the experiment is conducted, but went yellow instead.
Conclusion: Yes, it does not contain starch

Observation:Oil does not change its color. It stays the same. It doesn't change color.

Lipid test-test for fats and oils:
Observation: The oil in the test tube was seen as very cloudy. There was a bunch of white suspension on top of the liquid itself.
Conclusion: Yes, it does contain fat.
1) Put 2 - 3 ml of substance in the test tube
- If it solid then mash the sample up using pestle
2) Add 1ml of Benedict Reagent
3) Put the tube in boiling water
4)After a few minutes observe the color of the mixture
5) Clean Up!!!!
*If there is starch in the food the black color will appear*
1)Put sample of food in the microplate
2)Add a few drops of iodine
3)Observe the color

Solid sample:
1) Crush the food sample and add ethanol (2 cm^3) above the level of the sample in a test tube.
2)After solid settles, decant the ethanol into another tube.
3) Add 2cm^3 of distilled water to the second tube
Liquid Sample:
Follow the above steps, except for no crushing required.
4)Clean up!!!
*If the lipids are presented in the food, the solution will formed a layer of cloudy white suspension on top of the solution. But if the solution remains colorless, there is no lipids*

Observation: At around 2 minute mark the color of egg white turn green and after 3 minute the color of egg white turn purple

Observation: The food sample just turned yellow immediately after the iodine solution is added.
Conclusion: No, it doesn't contain any starch.

helps us stored energy that we could used in different activities in our daily lives e.g. running, jumping

helps with long term energy storage, protection against heat loss,water loss and physical shock, regulate what comes in and out of the cell inside our body
