Why You (and your actions) Matter
Junior High is different...it can be challenging!
More classes
More work
More difficult
How do I get to 8th grade?
In order to advance to the next grade level, you must earn a minimum of 4 credits AND pass language arts AND math.
You have a choice!
Replace "I can't/won't" statements..." with, "I can," or "I will."
Understand that you CAN get better with practice and with effort.
It's easy to get discouraged, and to say things like:
I can't do this.
I'm not good at ____.
I've always.... (done poorly, had bad attendance, etc.)
I've never... (gotten along with teachers, done homework, etc.)
But you can get better at what you do....
Credits are based upon semester grades (the average of first and second quarter)
Each semester, you can earn 2.5 credits (5 credits possible in a school year)
0.5 credits for Math, LA, Science and Social Studies
0.25 credits for each of your elective classes
What if I earn less than 4 credits?
What are things you have gotten better at, with practice?
Start small
Set a goal of completing one assignment; attending tutoring, or homework hub, one day a week; or simply asking for help.
You matter, and we care about you! If you need help, I will help.

Have a Goal!
Show me your progress...
