The main point in this article are that so many people are dying every week. This health issue effects all age groups but mainly teenagers. Yes, I think this is an important issue in the community because so many people are dying every day. We can lessen the number of people passing away by educating people about the consequences of smoking. To help people who are addicted to smoking we could make the drugs to help them quit cheaper and easier to access. From this article I learned how important it is to educate people about smoking So many people are dying every day from smoking.
So why do people even start?
Well, one of the main reasons that teenagers start smoking is peer pressure.
Most adults started as teenagers thinking that they will just try one and give it a go but won't get addicted.
WRONG! In cigarettes there is an addictive drug called nicotine so once you have had it a few times your body soon craves it.
Like this two year old Indonesian boy Ardi Rizal. With so many people getting sick from smoking it is costing the government a lot of money, more money than they are making from cigarettes.
Even though they do not sell the cigarettes they earn their money from the taxes the companies who sell them have to pay.
The government has been trying to stop the amount of people smoking by putting horrible photos of cancer on the front of the packets, raising the price and making it easier to access help to quit.
