stabilizers, shock sub, drill collar, heavy-weight drill pipe, jarring devices ("jars") and crossovers for various thread forms. The bottom hole assembly must provide force for the bit to break the rock (weight on bit) WOB

Drilling Operations

Heavy weight drill pipe was developed to provides a gradual transition from the heavy weight drill collars to the relatively light weight drill pipe.
It also allows you to drill at higher rpms, reducing torque and differential pressure sticking. It is intended primarily for directional drilling. Because it bends easily

Reduced shock loads on surface equipment

Shock subs

Its purpose is to mechanically stabilize the BHA in the borehole in order to avoid unintentional sidetracking, vibrations, and ensure the quality of the hole being drilled.

Drilling Operations while DRLG 17 ½” hole

Bit subs are used to connect the drill bit to the next piece of equipment in the BHA. Because drill bits are "pin up" and all other drilling components are typically "pin down", the bit sub functions as a crossover for BHA attachment.

Monitoring while drilling
Using ADMS “ Advanced Drilling Monitoring System
The ADMS system acquires, displays and records information about the measured physical characteristics of drilling in real time.
This data is stored in a database for retrieval
The ADMS also provides the ability to print trend charts for a paper copy

CHECK LISTS while DRLG Operation
Driller sheet is filled every half an hour for monitoring and reporting drilling operation
Drilling Parameters sheet is filled every ½ an hour
Ton mile is calculated every 24 hours and using Relative safety factor in consideration
Slow pump rate is taken every shift, if mud properties changed, new formation, after a kick
Mud Record sheet is made by derrick man and delivered every 12 hours
Tripping sheet is filled while tripping by Ass. Driller

Break Circulation
To start the mud pump to restore circulation of the mud column. Because stagnant drilling fluid gels during the period of no circulation, a high pump pressure is usually required to break circulation.
