Objectives
1)To
simulate the process flow diagram
given using the HYSYS software.
2)To identify the
differences
between the simulated and the process values.
3)To study the
underlying principles
of the equipment.
4)To design a Piping and Instrumentation Diagram
(PID)
based on the flow diagram.

Introduction
HYSYS is one of the
simulation software
that deals with a high potential of flexibility in completing various specific tasks

HYSYS comprised of four major key aspects of its design:

1)Event Driven operation
2)Modular Operations
3)Multi-flowsheet Architecture
4)Object Oriented Design
HYSYS Procedure
1)The flowsheet is opened
(New Case)
.
2)All the components
(Methane, Ethane and etc)
involved were inserted and the fluid package
(Peng-Robinson)
was chosen.

3)[Enter Simulation Environment].
4)The stream line
(Energy & Material)
was created and the molar flowrate was inserted.

5)The suitable equipment
(slug catcher, flash drum & etc)
was chosen and connected with the respective stream line. The simulation was run after each equipment and respective stream lines connected.
6)
The procedures were repeated for all the equipment involved

Equipment 1:
Slug Catcher
Uses
to collect the slugs at the outlet of the pipelines
Equipment 2:
Heater
uses
used to increase temperature of the outlet stream
Equipment 3:
Particulate Filters
uses
to separate and remove the particles from the gas
Equipment 4:
Flash Drum
uses
to separate the vapour from the liquid
K81-007: Abu Ali Gas
K81-007 winter condition
K81-008: Abu Ali Gas from Abu ALi Heater
K81-008 (Winter Case)
K81-009: Abu Ali Gas from Slug Catcher to LP DGA Contactor
K81-009 (Winter Condition)
K81-014: Condensate From Abu Ali Condensate Heater
K81-015: Gas from Abu Ali Condensate Flash Drum
K81-016: Condensate From Abu Ali Condensate Flash Drum
Inlet Diverter
Causes initial separation of gas from liquid.
The heavier liquid goes down while the gas rises.
In the open area of the vessel, the stream slows even further and the larger liquid particles fall from the gas.
Mist extractor
Captures smaller liquid particles entrained in the gas.
If a large liquid slug enters the system, an optional dump valve is triggered to quickly handle the sudden influx.
Liquids exit the bottom of the vessel and the natural gas exits the top
Sketch Image
Location installed
located between outlet of the pipeline and the processing equipment which is Abu Ali Condensate Heater (K81-E-008)
liquid that comes out from the slug catcher can be drained to K81-E-008 at much slower rate to prevent overloading system
Equipment:
SLUG CATCHER
Line Sizing
indicate two phase flow line
indicate gas or vapor flow line
Relief Valve Installation
Every process equipment has its own MAWP (maximum allowable working pressure)
-the maximum pressure based on the design codes that the weakest component of a pressure vessel can handle.
Relief valves
To keep the process equipment from exceeding its MAWP
designed to protect the process equipment by lets off steam when safe pressures are
exceeded, then closes again when pressure drops to the safe level.
A back pressure regulator maintains upstream pressure at the desired setting by opening to allow excess upstream pressure to flow downstream.

Conclusion
In conclusion, a PFD can be simulated using the HYSYS software. A PID also can be designed based on the
flowsheet. Each equipment has its
own purpose. Different line size can be were used for different phase flow. All these can be designed with the help of HYSIS software. From the design simulated, the values of the

flowrate
can be determined
P&ID
1) Slug catcher
2) Heat Exchanger
3) Particulate filters
4) Flash Drums
