Lindsay, Omar, Vishal, Sabrina, & Christine Depression Suicide Identify the stressor:
-look closely at your habits, attitude, and excuses
-stop any unhealthy ways of coping:
-smoking, alcohol, over/under eating, drugs, withdrawal, procrastinating



- A stressor is anything that causes stress
Examples:
-Marriage
-Jobs
-School / college
-Children
-Finances
-Death
-Weather
-Illness Depression is sadness or a state of
unhappiness and hopelessness
-SIgns
-Difficulty concentrating, remembering details, and making decisions
-Fatigue and decreased energy
-Insomnia, early-morning wakefulness, or excessive sleeping
-Irritability, restlessness
-Loss of interest in activities or hobbies once pleasurable
-Overeating or appetite loss Suicide is the intentional taking of ones own life
-Stress is one of the main causes of suicide
-Teens try to commit suicide because they are trying to escape from a situation that seems impossible to deal with
-Signs of suicide
-Talk about wanting to die
-Sleeping to little/too much
-Withdrawn or feeling isolated
-Showing rage or talk about seeking revenge Stress Management/ Coping With Stress Stress Stressor -learn healthy ways:
exercise, hang out with family / friends, do things you enjoy
What is Stress? PERSONALITY TYPES
-Type A:
-Intense sense of time urgency; need to accomplish as much as possible in a short amount of time, very competitive; goal oriented
-Type B:
-Take things in stride, not much emphasis on time or quickness, calm, relaxed, flexible, easy going.


Stress is the reaction of the body and mind to everyday challenges and demands. TYPES
-DIstress= negative stress
-Eustress= positive stress
-Ex: DIst= tests, running late to school
