Transcript of The Social, Cultural and Demographic Environment

Social and Cultural:

The Social and Cultural aspect of the macro-environment focuses on the
customs
,
religions
,
languages
,
lifestyle
, and the
norms
and
values
of the society in which a certain business operates.
Social
,
Cultural
and
Demographic

These aspects can either
restrict
the business, or
create new oppotunities
for the business.
Demographic Environment:

The demographics of a society will determine
which business will succeed
and
what the businesses should offer
.
Demographics refer to population charactoristics such as:

Number of people
in a various
age group
Gender
balance
Level of
education
Skills
Racial groups
within the society
If the type of
people
who live in a community
change
, the
businesses
within that community would have to adapt to those
changes
.
Businesses have to look out for and adapt to changes such as:

The
demographic of the population

The levels of
education in the population
Peoples
values
Their attitude towards
health and lifestyle
Different shops serve different social groups:
Example:

You will not find an expensive mall, that is aimed to serve upper class people, in a rural community.
You won't find a massive shopping center in the middle of a small town consisting of a very low population. The market will not be big enough, the business will make a loss and have to close as a result of this.
Demographics
is affected by the high
unemployment rate
and the number of
uneducated children
.
The culture in the society can create many opportunities for a business.

There is a diverse culture in South Africa that businesses can benefit from.
Thank You!
