Transcript of Dark Energy & Dark Matter

There is approximately 68% matter in dark energy
One explanation for dark energy is that it is a property of space.
Albert Einstein was the first person to realize that empty space is not nothing. Empty space can possess its own energy according to Einsteins Gravitational theory.
As more space comes into existence, more dark energy would appear. As a result, this form of energy would cause the Universe to expand faster and faster.
No one really knows why more space comes into existence and why or how it accelerates the universe.
(According to NASA)
What is Dark Matter?
non luminous material that exists in space and that could take any of several forms including weakly interacting particles ( cold dark matter ) or high-energy randomly moving particles.(According to NASA)
Theories are that dark matter is made of WIMPs
or weakly interacting massive particles
What is Dark Energy?
A force that counteracts gravity and causes the universe to expand at an accelerating rate.(According to NASA)

There is approximately 27% dark matter in the universe
Dark matter is not visible to the human eye.
Contains gravitational effects on visible matter, radiation, and the large-scale structure of the universe.(according to NASA)
In 1960 galaxies were moving at rapid speeds and were thought to have destroyed themselves. In reality Scientist theorize dark matter held these galaxies together.
Feint distortions in light also can lead to traces of dark matter as it does not emit light

The Future
Albert Einstein: created the gravitational theory (Nov. 25, 1915) that explained the reasoning behind space and dark energy, and discovered that it is possible for more space to come into existence.
In a lab
Edwin Hubble: created the Hubble Space Telescope in 1998,which discovered the fact that the universe was expanding in 1929.
In a lab

"If the dark energy is growing and dark matter is evaporating we will end up with a big, empty, boring Universe with almost nothing in it.
Quoted by:(Professor David Wands, Director of Portsmouth's Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation

2. What is dark matter?

3. Who are the two leading scientists that are affiliated with dark energy/matter?

1. The force that os accelerating the universe expansion

2.non luminous material that exists in space

Massive astrophysical compact halo object, or MACHO
a general name for any kind of astronomical body that might explain the presence of dark matter.
Baryonic matter:matter composed of protons and neutrons
A MACHO is a body composed of normal baryonic matter, which emits little or no radiation and drifts through space.
(according to Cornell and Google)
Dark energy is that it is a new kind of dynamical energy fluid or field, something that fills all of space but something whose effect on the expansion of the Universe is the opposite of that of matter and normal energy.
