Not a lot is known about William Wallace's background but there is a surviving letter written from his father that states his Dad's name was Alan even though some say his name was Malcolm Wallace. There is written proof that William had two brothers, one called Malcolm Wallace and the other called John Wallace. His mother's name is unknown. He became the main leader in the Scottish Wars of Independence and was the guardian of Scotland. THE BATTLE OF STIRLING BRIDGE .The battle of Stirling Bridge occured on the 11th of September 1297

.The scottish army had less soldiers than the English army did

.Stirling Bridge was a very narrow bridge at the time and collapsed under the wieght of all the soldiers and cavalry and most of the soldiers drowned so Scotland won that war BATTLE OF FALKIRK http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/clips/p00hbbm9 Battle of Falkirk Bridge was in April 1298. King Edward ordered another attack. Scotland tried to avoid battle with England and wanted to wait untill they run out of food supplies. Then England left but King Edward heard that the army camped in Falkirk so they went and managed to battle with Scotland. Scotland lost many of thier soldiers but Wallace managed to escape but his military reputation suffered badly. DEATH A Scottish knight, loyal to King Edward, turned William Wallace over to an English soldier. He was then taken to Westminster hall where he had said, in his defence,
" I could have never been a traitor to Edward for I was never his subject."
He was then taken to the Elms at Smithfield, strangled by a rope then taken out while still alive then be-headed and had his body cut into four parts and then had his had dipped in tar and put on a pike on London Bridge. BICKERING BUSH 1.What year was the War of Stirling Bridge in?
