Transcript of INFERENCING

Goal: CC K-12 RR 1
To read closely to determine
(figure out)

what the text says explicitly

then

use that information

to make logical inferences
(DEEPER meaning)
INFERENCING
The surface meaning is what we actually can see.
It's what it EXACTLY tells you in the book
Deeper Meaning
Prior Knowledge can be divided into 2 parts
Is the information you cannot see.
You have to use your PRIOR KNOWLEDGE and CONTEXT CLUES to identify the deeper meaning in the text.
