Inverness,Fl Clam and oyster beds are destroyed by pollution. Sea birds get tangled in plastic products. Beaches have been closed because of sewage and oil spills. Traces of Mercury, of the insecticide DDT, and lead from gasoline have been detected in the ocean. In some areas of the world, concentrations of pollution are so high that seafood is unsafe for humans to eat.
