Main Idea
I finished school but I do not know what I want to with my career.
How to develop a framework that
could help me decide what to do next*?
What are the most obvious solutions for this problem?
BRAINSTORM
ELEMENTS
How would a 5-year-old child solve the problem?
What if I could control the laws of nature?
What can you modify from those initial solutions?

Write the primary idea of the mind map in the center. Use different color notes to differentiate between topics. Use lines and arrows to create branches that connect ideas to each other.
What if I had an unlimited budget? And no money?
Talk with other people who may have faced a similar challenge. Get their opinion
Talk with owners of restaurants (one particular option)
Talk with owners of buffets (another particular option)
Talk with personal chefs (another particular option)
Look inside me, and do a profound self evaluation on things such as: Drivers, Dreams, Fears, Motivations, Strenghts, Weakenss.
Pray (Yes, I am serious)
Walk. And then Walk a bit more. Then, walk even more.
Wait a bit
Talk!
Ask
Reflect
Just do it! Whatever it is easy. Starting in 3, 2, 1!
Do what looks better for society!
Do what looks better for your heart / mind / soul!
Do whatever most people are doing. Just copy it.
Do things that no one else is doing. Be different!
Apply for as many internships as you can
Let others choose
Choose the option with the best reputation
Choose the option that pays more
Choose the safest option
What are the most obvious
solutions for this problem (1/2)?
Go to a career adviser and understand what fits my personality better
Ask your mother / father / partner / significant other what they think is the best choice!
Ask your friends
Ask my teacheers
Do!
What are the most obvious
solutions for this problem (2/2)?
Frame the problem and possible solutions. Look for a job? Start own business? Go back to school?
Analyse & Research what the job market looks like for you.
Write on a paper a complete description off all the options, including pros and cons and expected outcomes in the short, medium and long terms.
Read a lot (books, magazines, articles)
Analyze
A 5 year-old would choose an option that:
Is more fun!
He could take a nap in the work
He could gather all his friends in just one place
Looks like vacations
He could play a lot
Is full of toys
Would make his mom proud!
Has the best food!
Has pencils to paint things
Has pets and puppies
Allows him more chances to learn
Allows him to develop his creativity
Allows him to be an artist (thanks Pablo Picasso!)
How would a 5-year-old child
solve the problem?
I would hire the top experts in all fields and ask for their opinions.
I would buy all the companies I could have worked for and see what they look like.
I would setup a American-Idol like competition and have representatives from all the potential options to battle among themselves to see who gets me. Then, I would choose the winner.
How would you solve the problem
if you had an unlimited budget?
$$$
Which option would make me happy?
Which option would make laugh more?
I would throw dices!
I would write on a piece of paper how do I see myself in the future (5, 10, 15 years) and then choose the option with better chances of leading me to this point.
Meditation, the answer lies within ourselves.
Ask a 5 year-old how he would solve this problem :-)
I would go to the public library. I am sure there is a book about this.
I would google my problem.
How would you solve the
problem without spending any money?
$$$
Be at many places at the same time!
Remember the movie Being John Malkovich ? Just do as the actors did in the movie and discover a portal that leads you to into the mind of those you admire! I would the many options through their eyes.
If I could see the future, I would choose the option that leads to a better outcome!
If I could live for 3,000 years, I would choosechoose all the options and work on them for a limited period of time.
If I could change the past, I would face all the risks and then, eventually, go back into the past do differently the things that went wrong.
I would bring into life some of the great mind of the past (Einstein, Plato, etc) and aks for their opinion.
How would you solve this problem if
you had control over the laws of nature ?
1 - Look inside me, and do a profound self evaluation on things such as: Drivers, Dreams, Fears, Motivations, Strenuous, Weakness
Many times, the right / best answer lies inside ourselves. We just need to listen to our inner voices.

2 - Write on a paper a complete description off all the options, including pros and cons and expected outcomes in the short, medium and long terms
Another option is to change perspectives. Instead of focusing on the inner part, focus on the outer part (i.e. the problem itself). When it comes to this part, I believe that a rational approach is very efficient.

3 - Choose the safest option
In times of uncertainty, playing safe might be the best option beucase it buys you time, allows you to get more information about the situation (and yourself).
3 best ideas and the reasons
(*Important: The goal is not to decide what the person should do, instead, is to develop a tool that will allow the person to make a best decision by herself)
