10/04/12 What does it mean to What are some main contributions Some of the major contributions in science are... Examples of everyday objects from innovations. innovate? When you innovate it means to take another persons invention or idea and add your own stuff to make it more advanced or better. If an invention improves a product it makes it an innovation. in science? ~Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity, he educated the world about what its uses could be, also how it could be stored and the nature of it. ~Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. The light bulb allowed the world to be lit up in new ways without sunlight. The light bulb was innovated to many things, like it was shrunken down into the flashlight. ~The Wright brothers invented air travel by plane. When they invented the plane it made faster transportation possible along with the ability to travel greater distances. ~Henry Ford didn't invent the automobile, but he did innovate the assembly line originally invented by Eli Olds, which made the production of cars much more efficient and useful. Before After Cellphones The first cellphones were like bricks and did not text, play games, or have barely and of the features our modern day cell phones have iPhone 5 Transportation One of the first types of transportation was the horse drawn carriage. It was basically a wagon with a horse leader and passengers pulled by a horse or two. 2012 car model Television Some of the first televisions(T.V.'s) were very bulky and box-like. They only had about four channels to start off with and a crank to switch between them, most of them had bad signals and broke within about two years or less. The iPhone 5 has a bunch of app storage for games, social networking, organization, etc. It also takes HD pictures and plays music/videos. It has all the features of a computer. The modern-day cars have blue tooth to connect with your portable devices and run on gas or battery power. Flat screen T.V.'s Today's flat screen T.V.'s play HD (high definition) shows and movies. They have 1000's of channels and a wireless remote to flip through the channels. Also they have a surround sound system.
