The Life of Reece Mastin

By Christina Madi Reece Mastin is a singer and songwriter. He is known for winning the X Factor 2011. On the 24th of November 1994 the son of Debbie Mastin, and Darren Mastin was born. Reece Mastin was born in Scunthorpe, England. He also had 3 wonderful sisters. Reece when he was little When Reece Mastin was 6, he and his family migrated to South Australia. They were living in England, however the weather was bad and it rained nearly everyday. So they made a decision to move. In South Australia they lived in Golden Grove, where they have a wonderful house to live in. At the age of 7 Reece Mastin was diagnosed with “glue ear syndrome”. This incident happened in 2001. It was caused by chronic build-up of fluid in the middle of his ear. This is the biggest cause of hearing loss for young children. Luckily it went away. In South Australia he attended Golden Grove high school. He was 14 when he attended it. However Reece Mastin didn’t finish his high school years. He only went from grade 8 to 11, because he went on the X Factor 2011 After dropping out of school, Reece Mastin tried out for the X factor 2011. He performed the song “Come get some” by Rooster, and made it through with some amazing responses from the judges. Down the track he found out that Guy Sebastian was his mentor. Reece Mastin zoomed past boot camp and the live shows. It was a big achievement for him to make it to the grand final. On the 22nd of November 2011, Reece Mastin was announced as the winner of the X factor 2011. He received a management contract, and a recording contract with Sony Music Australia. He came up with the name little rockers for his fans after that wonderful journey. The X Factor Journey Winning single good night After winning the X Factor 2011, Reece Mastin performed his winning single “Good Night”. This single was the fastest selling single by an artist signed to Sony Music Australia. It sold over 30,000 copies within 24 hours. This song was released on the 24th of November 2011. It sold an average of one copy every 2.7 seconds, “WOW”. Reece Mastin’s winning single was number 1 on the ARIA singles chart, and also a lot of other charts. On the 19th of October 2012 Reece Mastin’s second album “Beautiful Nightmare” was released. This album was number 3 on the ARIA albums chart, and it was also certified gold. Second album Beautiful Night mare Reece Mastin is the talented singer that stole everyone’s heart at the X Factor 2011.
