Phones, tablets and computers in the classroom? Sounds silly but more students will be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course, if they are allowed to use technology. These electronic tools have become such an essential part of our society. Today’s technology can improve education, engage more students, and help us prepare for the future.
Technology can help students develop better learning skills through exploration and research. Students who gather information from the internet tend to be more independent and does not need to rely on the teacher as much. Students can also build their own understanding on a topic, this way it is easier for teachers to comprehend the students’ knowledge.
Technology can keep students focused on a project much longer than they would with books and paper. Increasing flexibility of presentations and visualization of lectures will have more students engaged. In order for a student to give their 100% the lesson needs to be up to date in their generation.
By using technology in the classroom students will discover the crucial thinking and workplace skills they will need in order to be successful in the future. In a workplace, computers are being used every day so letting students work on them now will only prepare them for the future.
Of course, there will always be some negative aspects to using technology in the classroom, such as abusing internet privileges for non-school related activities. However, in most cases, the pros largely overthrow the cons. The negative aspects are mostly minor problems that can be fixed with some guidance.

Contrapositive Statement
Students will not be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course, if they are not allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets.

If you were a geometry teacher, would you allow students access to electronic devices during class? What types of electronic devices would you let them use or not use? What evidence can you use to support your claim if a parent questions your decision as the teacher? Would your students be allowed to use their electronic devices during tests? What would you do for students that did not have their own electronic devices?

Converse Statement
Students will be able to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts presented within their course, if they are allowed to use technology such as computers, calculators and tablets.
If I were a geometry teacher I would most definitely allow my students access to electronic devices. As long as they are under my terms. I believe it could help my students with their assignments and help me as a teacher present a lesson. They would be allowed to use their phones, computers, calculators etc. These electronic devices will be used for school related purposes only. Unless they are done with their assignment or a teacher gives them permission then they may use their electronic devices for non-school related activities.
Evidence I would use if a parent questions my decisions as a teacher would be the increase of knowledge and creativity my students have because of technology. My students would not be allowed to use their electronic devices during tests because that would be considered cheating. If a student of mine didn't have an electronic device I would provide one for that student if I was able or let that student share one with another student. every student should have an opportunity to use an electronic device.
