DOT Update on Bypass Cut
Department of Transportation has given verbal commitment to the Board of Education for a right-in/right-out entrance to the high school site from the bypass.
The north bound turn lane onto East Avenue from the bypass will also be extended as a Fall DOT project.

Results supported previous discussions
The number one response to “What would you like to see at the current middle school site?” was a community center (139 out of 277).
The number one response to “What organizations and/or type of organization would you like to see on the current middle school site?” was Boys and Girls Club for organization and post-secondary training for program type.
The survey results and previous discussion indicate the desire to have a multi-purpose community center located at the middle school site.
At the June 27th committee meeting:

The committee also discussed not using the site for only one purpose, but also including public housing and/or green space. Continued use of the gym by the recreation department.
The committee reaffirmed their recommendation for any future facilities to be named, “Pearl-Burney”, to honor the history of the site.
The committee is also committed to having space for displaying the history of Pearl High School in the facility.

OBJECTIVE: Facility design features will be impacted by key stakeholders through a process of design meetings, off-site facility visits, and review of proposed plans.
Facility Design Team Process
Orientation Meeting conducted by Superintendent, Contractor and Architect to provide team elements of design for potential input, share responsibilities of the team.
1 - 2 days of off-site visits to evaluate various design features. Three different facilities should be the targeted number of facility visits.
Follow-up meeting to identify, prioritize and provide to architect design features recommended by Facility Design team.
(2 Hour Meeting)
Review of preliminary architectural concepts for input and evaluation of the incorporation of design features.
Review of conceptual architectural plans.
Organize a design team made up of the following positions:
