The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec References Origin Jacques Tardi is a French comics artist, born 30 August 1946 in Valence, Drôme.

His style is typically featuring an asexual hero. Jacques Tardi Protagonist Adele Blanc is the fusion of two main characters that Tardi had invented in his comic books. Barbarella is a fictional heroine in a French science fiction comic book created by Jean-Claude Forest.
The stand-alone version caused a scandal and became known as the first "adult" comic-book, despite its eroticism being slight and the existence of the Tijuana bibles well before this date.

Although published by a traditional company, the book anticipated the sexual revolution. For her creator, the character embodied the modern emancipated woman in the era of sexual liberation.
