Characters
Main Character
Zach Harriman
Relate
Not Relate
In the beginning of the story Zach's life is pretty crazy. His dad Tom Harriman is a hero. Well was at least, actually his dad dies in a plane crash when he was on a secret mission. Then Zach starts having all these strange powers in his life. Strangers start talking to him and start telling him to be the new HERO.
Elizabeth Harriman
Elizabeth Harriman is Zach Harriman's mom. This means that her husband is dead as well. This takes her some time to get over but she finally does. She keeps herself occupied by running a campaign for Senator Kerrigan to become the new president. Also trying to keep her and his son's mind off her husband's death. But that's not going to be an easy task for her.
President
John Marshall "Uncle John"
Uncle John was the Harriman's family lawyer and also one of Zach's main man, especially since his dad had died. They would hang out a lot and do whatever they wanted. But then Uncle John starts giving advice that is the opposite of another role model and helper Zach has.

KATe
Kate is Zach's best friend. She was there for him when Zach needed her. Kate is a very important character in the book. She encourages Zach to do things he has never done before. Zach also helps her in some situations superhero way. But the problem is that Kate knows everything about him, Zach can't almost get away with anything. Its like if Zach's a book and Kate already knows what's in the next page.

Cool
Mr.Herbert:
http://www.tokyotimes.com/mystery-man-trails-radiation-in-tokyo-s-setagaya-ward/
Mr.Herbert appears when Zach is looking at the site where the plane his dad was on crashed. Mr.Herbert seems to know everything about his father everything about Zach and his life. Zach just doesn't know how Mr. Herbert knows sow much about him and his dad. He is very confusing even Uncle John doesn't want Zach listening to Mr.Herbert. But, eventually Zach finds out who Mr.Herbert really is.

ecommendation
I gave this book 5 stars because its a really great book I really enjoy reading books about action and mystery. Anyone who likes superheroes or fantasy would really like this book. It included many good characters and multiple conflicts which makes it really mysterious and makes u want to read the book more and more page after page.

1) "You should trust me because I was the first who told your father he had the magic in him," Mr. Herbert said.
He tried to hand the coin back to Zach, but Zach pulled his hand away, as if touching it would be like touching a hot stove.
"Don't be afraid boy," the old man said. "You've got the magic, too."
2)
"You came back. I Knew you would."
In the quiet of the morning, the emptiness of this part of the park, it was as if the words came out of a loudspeaker.
Kate screamed, couldn't help it, whipped her head around.
Knit Cap, dressed exactly the same.
Kate opened her mouth again, ready to scream help . . . only this time nothing came out.
He smiled at her. But this wasn't a friendly smile; there was nothing good behind his eyes, nothing good inside him at all.
"But what was she thinking?" he said, circling her. "I mean, coming back here all alone?"
"Stay away from me," Kate said, knowing as soon as she did how pathetic that sounded.
She added: "What do you want from me?"
"From you?" he said. "Nothing. I want your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend," Kate said.
Even here, even like this, there was something that made her want to set the record straight.
"Right."
"Why don't you just swim away like you did the last time and leave me alone?"
The brave girl trying one last time to sound brave, even if she wasn't.
"No, I don't think so," he said, stopping in front of her, leaning down, his face only inches from hers. "I think I have other plans."
She tried to look past him, down the track, wondering where the jogger had gone.
"There is no one around to help you," he said. "Look around all you want."
"I'm going now," Kate said, trying to make her voice stand steady.
He reached for her.

3)
I smashed the window and burst through. There was, the fat slob, trying to make it to the door, turning to fire a shot gun in his right hand. But I was across the room before he could do anything, slapping the gun out of his hand, putting my hand behind his head, finding the spot, putting him out.

What do you think happened to Kate?
You have too read the book to find out?
What I liked about this part of the book was the mystery that was in the last part when it just stopped there and gave you the suspense of wanting to know what will happen in the next chapter.

"Nothing Mike Lupica has written will thrill you like this."
-William Goldman, author of The Princess Bride
One way the story relates to my life is that he goes to middle school and he has a friend that is a girl.
"LA Weekly noted that only in America could you have a political thriller bereft of politics. I paraphrase since it’s been so long, but the observation has always stuck with me — especially when I was reading Hero"

One way the story does not relate to my life is that he is in the eight grade and has super powers.

This is one of my favorite parts of the book because it is the part when Zach finds out he actually has powers. Also this part includes a simile which expresses the way Zach pulled his hand away.
I liked this part of the book because it includes action and danger. Also how he describes the character sitting down. In this part the author describes with very specific details that action in that part of the book.
