He is a film director, film producer, a writer and an artist and he has been doing this since 1982 and still does it today. When he was young he used to make short films in his back garden using crude stop motion animation techniques or shot them on 8mm film with no sound. One of his oldest short films is ''The Island of Doctor Agor'' which he made at the age of 13. At school Burton found his interest and pleasure in painting, drawing and watching films. His future work was heavily influenced by childhood heroes Dr.Seuss, Roald Dahl, Edgar Allan Poe and the horror and sci-fi films he used to watch. After graduating from school, Burton attended the California Institute of the Arts to study character animation, where he made the shorts ''Stalk of the Celery Monster'' and ''King and Octopus''. One of his classmates was Henry Selick, who later worked with Burton to make the films ''The Nightmare Before Christmas'' and ''James and the Giant Peach''. He also makes films for a veriety of audiences; from children to adults. His films are dark because of the characters he includes for it and the narratives he makes for them. Importance Tim Burton is an important animator as he makes dark, spooky films unlike other animators. A film created by Shane Acker who was inspired by Tim Burton. Just by looking at the front cover you can see that the film is going to be quite freaky, like Burtons films. Roald Dahl The Brothers Quay ''James and the Giant Peach'' is a childrens stop motion film. The film was directed by Henry Selick, produced by Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi. It is based on Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach; one of Burtons influences.
The Narrative:
James is a young boy whos parent got killed and he had to live with his 2 horrible aunts who are very cruel to him,Later on in the film James finds a giant peach and eats his way into it finding large insects who he exploresthe world with. This is the film ''The Nightmare before Christmas''. It was directed by Henry Selick and produced by Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi.
The narrative:
The Nightmare before Christmas is set in ''halloween town''. The main character is a skeleton and he goes to ''christmas town'' and learns about being nice to people isntead of scaring them. Roald Dahl was a novelist, poet and a screenwriter. The genres he catered for were children, adult lirtature, horror, mystery and fantasy. Burton's films are very dark and spooky compared to Roald Dahls novels. The Brothers Quay are identical twins. Their occupations are film directors and animators. They create scary stop-motion animations which would be mainly aimed at adults. Their films are scary because of the narratives and the characters and things they use to make the films. Burton's films are very similar to The Brothers Quay films, but Burton's are a little less scary. ''Edward Scissorhands'' is a film which was directed by Tim Burton and produced by Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi. The story was also written by Tim Burton and young novelist Caroline Thompson. The story of the film is very strange and imaginative; much like Burtons other films. ''Frankenweenie'' was directed by Tim Burton and produced by him and Allison Abbate. It is a 3D black-and-white stop motion sci-fi comedy horror film. It is a remake of Burtons 1984 short film of the same name. This is the original ''Frankenweenie''. It was made in 1984 and is both a parody and homage to the 1931 film ''Frankenstein''. It was also the last Disney film to use the Buena Vista logo. Some Clips of Burtons films..
