Transcript of carbohydrates projects!!
CARBOHYDRATES PROJECT BY :
DITA ROSALIA ARINI
carbohydrates are organic molecules made up of the elements carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
anybody know whaT is that carbohydrate???
Carbohydrates may be classified as a single sugars, double sugars
(single sugars) :
(double sugars) :
are sweet and Double in water.
ANYBODY KNOW WHAT IS THE DIFFERENT OF SINGLE AND DOUBLE SUGARS?
single sugars or monnosaccharides:
are small molecules. they cannot be further digested into smaller molecules
so what is that double sugars?
double sugars are
because its molecule of a double sugar is made up of two molecules of single sugars bonded together
glucose found in plants and animals
fructose common in plants but rare in animals
galactose present in milk, sugar, in mammals
maltose (malt sugar) occurs in germinating grains
condensation reaction is a chemical reaction in which to simple molecules are joined together to form larger molecule with the removal of one molecule of water
glucose + gluclose
maltose + water
hydrolysis is a reaction in wich a water molecule is needed to break up a complex molecule into smaller molecules
nb: double sugar can be split into two single sugar molecules by using an organic molecule called an ENZYM
testing for reducing sugar
carry out the BENEDICT"S TEST
and how can identifdy starch???
we can identify by iodine test
let's watch our video here!!!
from our experiments we know where is the food have reducing sugars and starch
first experiment we try to identify starch in rice
from that experiments we can know in rice it has starch
how about the second experiments??
the second experiments we try to benedict's test
for the first we used watersolution and add a liitle bit benedict but the colour still blue and no reducing sugar
afterthat we used milk and its still same
anybody know what is that starch???
starch are several thousand glucose molecules joined togehter
what are the function of carbohydrates?
as a subtrate for respiration to provide energy
to form supporting structures
to synthesise lubricants
time to Quiz!!!
1. what is that carbohydrates?
2.anybody know carbohydrates classified into two types what is that?
3. what is the different between single sugars and double sugars?
4. what experiments it has do in that picture?
5. what the result from our presentation that you can take?
NO VIDEO haha
