Transcript of Pablo Picasso
has a child-like air which is significant. This picture
also shows emphasis on the eyes as the are staring
and empty. So to sum it up the Centaure shows the
adult vision in Picasso while his self portrait shows
his childish imagination. In my mind Picasso's self portrait is better than the his sculpture of the Centaure. The reason I believe this statement is the fact that unlike the Centaure the self portrait has a sensitive look, because Picasso is young and has a happy face. This work has a intense stare which makes you hypnotized and makes you stare. And to top it off this has colorful colors which when combined give you a vivid image. Picasso was born on October 25, 1881 in the city of Málaga. The mother of Picasso was Doña Maria Picasso y Lopez and his father was Don José Ruiz Blasco. Even though Picasso was a somewhat poor student he had a talent for drawing from a very young age. As a child Picasso's father began to teach him to draw and paint. Then by the time he was 13 years old his paintings were better carried out than his father's. Soon he didn't want to do any schoolwork and instead spent the time during school his notebook. The two works of art which I will be using are Picasso's Centaure which was made in 1961 to 1967 and his second Self Portrait which was produced in 1907. Centaure is a golden statue which ironically goes back instead of forward as it is a two-dimensional statue and not a three-dimensional one. Also even though the sculpture looks simple Picasso got the image of a half-horse and half-man perfectly as it is in action. This statue also has another leg which shows the artist's 'man as beast' theme. Les Demoiselles d'Avignon Guernica Centaure Self Portrait GALLERY Sources Pablo Picasso -
