America, The country in which all of the 13 colonies are settled
Bible, The most important book in Colonial times due to how big religion was
Constitution, The first American constitution was written in Connecticut
Delaware, one of the 13 colonies located in the middle colonies region
England, The country in which most colonists came from
Freedom, a lot of colonists came here for religious freedom
Great Migration, Whenever thousand of people migrated to the colonies in 1630
Hartford, the capital of Connecticut built by Thomas Hooker
Import, The colonies trade goods back and forth between England
John Winthrop, a lawyer that requested a charter from the king and became the first governor of Mass. Bay Colony
King Charles II, was king of England when South Carolina, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania were founded.
Landowner, if you didn't own land you couldn't make decisions in your community or vote
Massachusetts, One of the 13 colonies located in the New England region, one of the biggest colonies
Newport, one of the main
harbors of trade in the New England colonies
Oglethorpe, James: the founder of Georgia where debtors could start a new life
Puritans, a religion in Massachusetts that wanted religious freedom but had no toleration of other religions
Quakers, a religion in colonial times that has a strange set of laws and isn't very present now
Roger Williams, preached ideas that angered the Puritans talked about separation of church and state
subsistence farming, due to the rocky soil this is what people did in the NE colonies, you farm only enough food for your family
Toleration, they had to accept different religions in the colonies, not everyone did this
Unity, this is what was trying to be accomplished in the 13 colonies between all religions and the natives
Virginia, one of the 13 colonies located in the Southern region
William and Mary, put into power after King James was taken off the throne
Xenophobia, an unreasonable fear of different people, some people in the colonies demonstrated this with all the different religions coming to America
Yorktown, a small town in Virginia that ended up being a big point in the Revolutionary War later on
Zinc, a strong metal used in colonial times combined with other metals to make them stronger
