As of January 28, 16 the population of Madagascar is 26,295,383.
It is estimated that 55% of the total population is based on traditional beliefs and 40% is Christianity. About eqaly divided between Roman Catholics and Protestants, the remaining 5% being muslims.
Clothing
Many of the people in Madagascar still stick to the traditional Lamba or wraparound cloth. They also like to wear hats made of varieties of plant fibres. weaves and colours. Hat making is a source of income for many women.

How it became a french speaking country?
In 1500, Portuguese explorers landed on the island. They did a little exploring and then returned to Europe. Word of the Portuguese discovery spread to England, and both countries hurried to establish settlements on the island. In 1794, King Andrainampoinimarina managed to unite the various tribes of Madagascar, forming a single kingdom. By 1817 King Andrianampoinimarina's son King Radama 1, formed friendly relations with European powers, and invited British missionaries to his country. Led by David Jones, the missionaries introduced the Roman alphabet and Christainity to Radama's subjects.
