Sports Affect on the World In the 2006 World Cup soccer tournament, over 26 billion people watched on television or attended games. This making it the 4th most watched event in world history, just behind the World Cups of 1994, 1990 and 2002 respectively. The Nation of the Ivory Coast , located on the atlantic coast of Africa, in the diamond mining region. Postponed a deadly civil war that had been occuring for 4 years as soon as their nation qualified for the tournament. Of the 833 players on Major League
baseball rosters at the start of the
2010 season, 231 of them were from
outside the United States. The MLB has created the World Baseball
classic that goes on every 3 years to face
the nations of the world against each other in a baseball tournament similar to the World Cup in soccer. Japan has won each of the last 2 years, and the United States has only placed in the top 4 once in the tournament. The New York Mets have the most foreign
players on their 25 man roster, with 15. Making
them the best team to root for... This cuban baseball player has a negative
effect on the world, sports relationship
