Transcript of Energy Resources

Earth's Ten Resources Energy Resources Origin Of Resource Environmental: Pros and Cons The future of and growth potential Cost and Production Uses and Needs of
Hydroelectricity Hydroelectricity is a term that is referring to electricity generated by hydropower. Most power in the united states is mostly fossil fuels and nuclear power.
Nowadays dams are build with huge generators that are placed inside the dams
Water flowing through the dams spin a turbine which is connected to a generator.
Hydroelectric dams are a safe and clean way to get electricity as you can see that some states still use hydropower dams.
The hoover dam is a hydroelectric dam that is still in the state of Nevada. The advantages of hydropower is that it uses limited amount of resources and it runs on clean user friendly power and water.

The Disadvantages of hydropower is that it uses limited resources that we have limited resources these days and it pollutes the air & its very high priced also. The future growth of this establishment is that they still use it for the Hoover Dam located in Boulder City,Nevada and its the biggest dam still up and running on hydroelectric power. Eddie & Paola
Citation of the sources http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/hyhowworks.html http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/wuhy.html Hydroelectricity Its the most important and widely-used renewable source of energy mostly used for dams, irrigation, recreation, residential, and commercial uses. The estimated cost for the production of this dam is about $49 million dollars. The 23 dams that have to be built has a total generating capacity of 673 megawatts. It takes as long as 10 years or more to bulid this dam it all depends on how long they work. Hydropower or water power is power derived from the energy of falling water, which may be harnessed for useful purposes. Hydropower is a more efficient way to get electricity and it doesn't harm our environment (pollution). This uses a turbine, a penstock, generator, powerhouse and many other parts to power this user friendly dam and it just uses water from ocean lakes and rivers so its environmental friendly.
