DEFORESTATION
The deforestation of the Amazon rainforest is one of the main environmental problems of today's world, due to its great importance to the environment.
This deforestation causes extinction of plant and animal species, bringing irreparable harm to the Amazon ecosystem.
Main causes:
- Degradation caused by illegal logging, intended for illegal timber trade;
- Illegal Fires to open pastures for livestock or agricultural areas (mainly for soybean);
- Human settlements due to population growth in the region.
Main consequences:
- Extinction of plant and animal species;
- Imbalance in the ecosystem of the region;
- Increased air pollution in case of fire;
- Increase in cases of soil erosion. inspection problems.

Due to the huge land area of the Amazon rainforest, oversight is estremely complicated. In addition, the Brasilian government puts few tax operating in the region, a fact that hinders the inspection further.
Deforestation can also be seen as removal of forests leading to several imbalances ecologically and environmentally. What makes deforestation alarming is the immediate and long term effects it is bound to inflict if continued at the current pace. Some predictions state that the rainforests of the world will be destroyed completely if deforestation continues at its current pace.
