Childhood Shawn Corey Carter, better known as Jay-Z, was born on December 2, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York. Jay-Z was abandon by his father at a young age and was placed in Marcy House, which is a housing project in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. Carter attended Eli Whitney High School in Brooklyn, which he attended with with the future rapper AZ, until it was closed down. After closing he attended George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School in Downtown Brooklyn, which he attended with other famous rappers such as the Notorious B.I.G, and Busta Rhymes. Lastly he attended Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey, but did not graduate. Trenton High School

That year, Jay-Z released his debut album Reasonable Doubt with beats from acclaimed producers such as DJ Premier and Super DJ Clark Kent and a major appearance by the Notorious B.I.G. His album reached number twenty-three on the Billboard 200, and was liked by the critics. It made Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Album's of All-Time," as number two hundred and thirty-eight, and eventually reached platinum status. After his first album, he signed a distribution deal with Deaf Jam Recods. With Deaf Jam Jay-z has produced over twelve albums that have sold and is worth 450 Million Dollars, as of 2011.He also has wrote every one of his albums on his own. 2011 Awards and Accomplishments Jay-Z is a accomplished artists, producer, owner, and business man. He has one award's at events such as the American Music Awards, the BET Awards, the Brit Awards, the Grammy Awards, the Mobo Awards, the MTV Europe Awards, the MTV Music Awards, the MTV Music Awards Japan, the NME Awards, the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards, the People's Choice Awards, and the Tony Awards. He also co-owns the 40/40 Club, is part owner of the National Basketball Association's Brooklyn Net's, and is also the creator of the clothing line rocawear. He is former CEO of Deaf Jam Records, one of the three founders of Roc-A-Fella Records, and founder of rock nation. He also holds the record for the most number one albums by a solo artist on the Billboard 200. Jay-Z also has four number one the Billboard Hot 100 , one as lead artists. and Efforts Jay-Z's early life was troubling. He sold crack cocaine , which he mentions is many of his song's. Though having a tough life, he is always trying to make other peoples better. He has donated to charities such as the University Student Empowerment, Play Pumps International, and America's Red Cross relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina. On August 9, 2006, after meeting with US Secretary General Kofi Annan, he pledged to help raise awareness and combat global water shortages, through his upcoming world tour then. Although he has not impacted my life, he has impacted many other people's lives though his work. He also has his own foundation, called the Shawn Carter Foundation.
