In the body, carbohydrates are broken down into a molecule called glucose, which is either used for energy or stored for later use.
Simple sugars are broken down quickly, producing a rapid increase in blood sugar levels.

Sugar is an essential food ingredient that unleashed major economic and social changes. Eventually,table sugar became sufficiently cheap and common enough to influence standard cuisine
and flavored drinks. Sucrose forms a major element in confectionery and desserts.
Cooks use it for sweetening — its fructose component, which has almost double the sweetness of glucose, makes sucrose distinctively sweet in comparison to other carbohydrate foods. Healthy Unhealthy fruits, root vegetables (carrots,

While sucrose helps provide you with energy it's easy to over consume it, which can lead to change in blood sugar levels and excess storage of fat. When you consume sucrose, before you can use it for any cellular purposes, you have to digest it. The sucrose molecule is too large for your intestine to absorb whole. Instead, you use an enzyme in the small intestine called sucrase to break sucrose into its constituent glucose and fructose molecules. These are small enough that you can absorb them into the bloodstream.

Glucose and the Body Sources GLUCOSE The blood sugar concentration or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose (sugar) present in the blood of a human or animal. The body naturally tightly regulates blood glucose levels as a part of metabolic homeostasis. The body's homeostatic mechanism keeps blood glucose levels within a narrow range. It is composed of several interacting systems, of which hormone regulation is the most important.
There are two types of mutually antagonistic metabolic hormones affecting blood glucose levels:
catabolic hormones (such as glucagon, cortisol and catecholamines) which increase blood glucose;
