Ancient Egypt; Discoveries and accomplishments

Surgery was mainly employed for the superficial treatment of wounds, dislocation, and fractures.
Aesthetics were available in the form of drugs derived from plants.
Egyptians were the 1st to make observations in human and animal anatomy, conduct experiments in surgery, and pharmacy.
Discoveries and accomplishments of Ancient china
Thought to be the beginning of medicine by tasting herbs, and waiting to see what they did to their bodies.
China was one of the first countries to have a medical culture.
Ancient Chinese used acupuncture, or puncture of the skin by needles, to relieve pain and congestion.
Primitive times of Ancient China and Egypt
trepidation or trephining, or boring a hole in their skull, was used to treat insanity, epilepsy, and headaches.
Belief or theories of Ancient Egypt
Primitive times:
believed illness and disease were caused by supernatural spirits and demons.
Tribal which doctors treated illness with ceremonies to drive out evil spirits.
Beliefs:
Ancient Egyptians called upon the Gods to heal when disease occurred.
Believed the body was a system of channels for air, tears, blood, urine, sperm, and feces. If channels became clogged, leches were used to unclog them. They also used magic and medical plants to heal disease.

Believed in the need to treat the whole body by curing the spirit and nourishing the body.

Physicians were usually priest.
Blood letting or leeches were used as medical treatment.

illness and diseases were punishments from the Gods.
Tribal witch doctors treated illness with ceremonies.

moxibustian which is the burning of moxa on or near a persons skin, as a counter-irritant.( Moxa is a substance from the wormwood plant.)

Known ancient Egyptian specialists are ophthalmologist, gastroenterologist, proctologist, dentist, "doctor who supervises butchers" and an unspecified "inspector of liquids". The ancient Egyptian term for proctologist, neru phuyt, literally translates as "shepherd of the anus".

In the Han Dynasty, there was a noted author named Tsang Kung who pioneered in the description of many diseases like cancer.
