But Jose Abad Santos refused and say "To obey your orders is to become traitor to the United States and to my country. I prefer to die than live in shame" Before he was executed he saw his son, Pepito crying and told him "Do not cry, Pepito, show the people that you are brave. It is a rare opportunity for me to die for our country. Not everyone is given the chance." Jose Abad Santos spent his last hours praying with his son
It was a story about a young fourteen year old Chinese girl named Amy, who had a crushed on a minister's son. His name was Robert. When Amy found out that her parents invited Robert and his family over for a Christmas eve dinner. She was very nervous about Robert coming over to her house and not liking it. Her fear had come true when Robert and his family came over. It seemed right from the start that Robert didn't want to be there. Something that gave this away was when Amy said hello to him and he grunted back hello. When dinner came around Amy started to fall deeper in despair. The reason why is because her relatives were acting very inappropriate at dinner. They were licking their chopsticks and dipped them into other plates. Another thing that made her embarrassed was the food. It wasn't the typical American food for Christmas. They had Chinese food and it looked looked like Robert didn't liked the food. When dinner was done Amy's Dad belched very loud, and in China that is considered as polite and shows that your satisfied. With that being said the minister tried to let one go but only could let a small belch out. After everyone had left Amy's Mom notice that she didn't enjoy herself at dinner. Her mom said " You want to be the same as American girls on the outside". She gave her a skirt as an early present for Christmas. Amy, years later, finally understood what her Mom was trying to tell her. Amy had also realized for dinner that year. Was all of her favorite food.
