Sequence (or Chronological) This type of text describes events in the order they happen. Cause and Effect This type of text describes events and what causes them to happen. Compare Contrast This type of text tells how two or more things are ALIKE and how they are DIFFERENT. Problem and Solution This type of text describes a problem, possible solutions, and results. Understanding a text's structure (organization) helps a reader better understand the text.
