THE MOVIE ;D Politics Avatar A v a t a r There are many different ideas that these characters and objects symbolize. Politics Anti-Americanism Imperialism Saritha Prabhu, an Indian-born columnist for The Tennessean, wrote about the parallels between the plot and how "Western power colonizes and invades the indigenous people (native Americans, Eastern countries, you substitute the names), sees the natives as primitives/savages/uncivilized, is unable or unwilling to see the merits in a civilization that has been around longer, loots the weaker power, all while thinking it is doing a favor to the poor natives." Imperialism First of all, Imperialism is when we, as humans, target someone weaker for us, normally for a reward i.e. resources. So, In Avatar, this is seen when we leave Earth, and go to Pandora for a fuel source. Anti-Americanism The release of Avatar sent a liberal uproar as it demoted the military and U.S. state.
The way that the military was shown, was cruel and rutheless to any and all.
The way that the home tree falls is quite parallel to the way the twin towers fell in 9/11. Religious Religious To start with Next "What is an Avatar anyway? It's an incarnation of one of the Hindu gods taking a flesh form. In this film what that means is that the human technology in the future is capable of injecting a human's intelligence into a remotely located body, a biological body." Finally, Hinduism Hinduism The aspects of the blue skin color, tilak mark on the forehead, and black hair, was taken from their deities, Rama and Krishna. The ideas of reincarnation of the soul, ecological consciousness, and reincarnation of deities have been found in their structure of society. James Cameron was asked about the title of his movie Avatar: The banshee's that the pandoreans flew were relatively alike to the garuda's. Christianity's complicity in the conquest of the Americas An anonymous christian critic wrote that Avatar has "an abhorrent New Age, pagan, anti-capitalist worldview that promotes goddess worship and the destruction of the human race and suggested that Christian viewers interpret the film as a reminder of Jesus Christ as "the True Avatar". Back to basics Define: allegory An allegory is basically a double entrendre on a larger scale; the story has a second meaning beneath the surface. What's it about? Pandora is our drilling site to get a rare fuel source. Jake takes the place of his twin brother and ties himself to an avatar. The military side tries to use him to find a way to rid of the pandoreans. While, the scientists are infatuated with his acceptance into their community. Jake, of course, gets attached and trys to save the "home tree" as it gets destroyed by the military. Jake then becomes a pandorean after he saves them and drives away all the humans.
