Yanai Klugman Israel Kamakawiwo'ole About IZ Facing Future Iz's first album, "Facing Future" was released in 1993 and became an instant hit. Support of Hawaiian Rights Known for promoting Hawaiian rights
and independence both through his lyrics
and his lifestyle. Alone in IZ World Released in 2001, this album was
one of only 12 to ever debut #1 on
Billboard's World Chart. His music and his Legacy Soft ukulele blended with Israel's tender vocals
in both Hawaiian and English make IZ's music
captivating and calming. IZ brings together
traditional songs with the Hawaiian ukulele beat. Israel Ka’ano’i Kamakawiwo’ole "the fearless eye, the bold face" Began as part of the Mãkaha Sons of Ni’ihau The Makaha Sons recorded 21 albums,
won many Na Hoku Awards, and went
on to change Hawaiian music history. 'Bruddah' IZ Top selling Hawaiian
music album in the world First Hawaiian album to be certified
gold, and later platinum. Hawaii '78 To this day, "Facing Future" is bearing
down on 700 weeks in the top 10 of
the World Chart. Alone in IZ World
for 423 weeks. IZ's music has been featured in: Hawaii '78 demonstrates the
beliefs and hopes that he had for
the people of Hawaii The state motto Hawaii is a recurring
line in the song - "Ua Mau ke Ea
o ka Aina i ka Pono"
The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness IZ died at the age of 38 in 1997 due to obesity
related health problems. At one point, IZ weighed 757 pounds His coffin lays in state at the capitol building in
Honolulu. He is one of only three people to share this honor. Much of IZ's work was released posthumously by Mountain Apple Company
