Johann Sebastian Bach
He came from a long line of musicians.
They were so successful and numerous that in Erfurt, Germany, musicians were all referred to as "bachs."
Worked most of his life as an
More famous in his day for his organ playing and improvising skills than for composing.
Wrote more than
1,000 pieces of music ...
... that we know of!
Not well known for playing rock guitar . .

for churches and royal courts.

Bach had 20 children!
Only 10 of them survived to adulthood! Four of those went on to distinguished careers as musicians and composers.
W. F. Bach and C. P. E. Bach were more famous in their lifetimes than their father was.
