Applied Mathematics is a branch of mathematics where Mathematical theory is applied to real world problems.
Theoretical Mathematics is a branch of Mathematics where Theory and Concepts are studied.
The fields of study one can choose range from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to Economics, Marketing, and Business.
Both Economics and Engineering Incorporate Mathematics

The Human Development Index.
The HDI is computed as the geometric mean of three sub-indexes based on Life, Education, and Income
Income Index Is Based on
Gross National Income (GNI)
For income index, we follow the same basic procedure, but we first take the natural log
We do this as the log of income better captures the diminishing marginal utility of income

GNI per Capita- $5,000
Using the HDI, we can determine how developed a country is with a numerical explanation
The number we derive ranges from 0 to 1, closer to 1 means that country is more developed
Education Index
Life Expectancy- 72 years
Mean Years of Schooling-10.5
Expected Years of Schooling-13.0
Country A
Now since we have computed the three sub indexes, we can now determine the HDI by cubing the square root of all three sub-indexes
Country A's HDI shows that even with a high life expectancy and a decent education outcome, the country lacks in gross national income

We combine current and future levels of education by computing the geometric mean of MYS and EYS divided by the geometric mean of the highest recorded values for MYS and EYS.
