It's All About ATTITUDE Genesis 4:1-14 When it comes to our spiritual "walk", ATTITUDE means EVERYTHING. manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., with regard to aperson or thing; tendency or orientation, esp. of the mind: anegative attitude; group attitudes. ATTITUDE: ATTITUDE: affects how we approach things. Monday Morning
A kid with a "bad attitude" ATTITUDE: affects how people approach us! ATTITUDE: can be or be an INFECTIOUS INFECTION. ATTITUDE: drives our DECISIONS. UNRIGHTEOUS ANGER (4:5) DISAPPOINTMENT (4:5) PRIDE (4:9) ANGER: HIMSELF, for not obeying.
ABEL, because he was accepted.
GOD, because of the requirements. Why be so angry? | ENVY JEALOUSY "How dare God accept Abel's offering and not mine?!" James 3:14-16 ESV - (14) But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.(15) This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.(16) For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.
Titus 3:1-4 ESV - (1) Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,(2) to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.(3) For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.(4) But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,
The Christian's Life is Different... "Why is God doing this to ME?" God offers hope for the FUTURE. Genesis 4:6-7 God is LONGSUFFERING and simply wants us to DO RIGHT! 2 PETER 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
Cain's ANGER ENVY JEALOUSY | | drove him to MURDER. 1 John 3:12 ESV - (12) We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous.
What was he THINKING? "I can hide this from God." (Genesis 4:9) Sometimes PRIDE stands in the way of SALVATION! But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
James 4:6 But hummingbirds ignore the smelly flesh of dead animals. Instead, they look for the colorful blossoms of desert plants. The vultures live on what was. They live on the past. They fill themselves with what is dead and gone. But hummingbirds live on what is. They seek new life. "Both the hummingbird and the vulture fly over our nation's deserts. All vultures see is rotting meat, because that is what they look for. They thrive on that diet. They fill themselves with freshness and life. Each bird finds what it is looking for. We all do." - Steve Goodier (8) Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones... (10) But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively.(11) Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam's error and perished in Korah's rebellion.
