Transcript of Harry Potter Leadership Styles
Alexis Federici & Taylor Ozimek
Headmaster Dumbledore’s inspired leadership of the Hogwarts School, always encouraging each student to do his or her best, and to tap into their own unique gifts and talents. Also, Dumbledore always had the courage to lead and protect Harry on his quest to defeat Lord Voldemort.
There are many characters in the Harry Potter series that show leadership skills
Rubeus Hagrid displays many leadership styles in the Harry Potter series. His main leadership role was taking the action into introducing Harry Potter to the wizarding world even though he knew there was great danger in doing this. He showed great courage in many situations throughout the series.
The following video displays excellent leadership traits displayed by Albus Dumbledore. Notice how Harry Potter mentions "Dumbledore's Army" which is a group of students who believe that Dumbledore is their leader. Also, Dumbledore stands up and protects Harry by saying that he was the one who created Dumbledore's Army when it was actually Harry. Lastly, he shows great courage by escaping when he was told he was going to Azkaban (jail).
Another important leader in the Harry Potter series was Serverus Snape. Most readers/watchers do not realize how important of a leader Snape was until the end of the series.Throughout all the stories he was helping and protecting Harry in many ways. One of the most important ways was how Snape lead Harry to the sword of Gryffindor which would help Harry kill the Dark Lord in the end. He leads Harry to the sword in ways that Harry would not know it was him.
The following video shows how Snape lead Harry to the sword of Gryffindor in one of the most desperate times for Harry. Snape leads Harry to the sword by using his "patronus" (ghostlike doe).
The following video displays how Hermione takes action and leads her friends in a time of danger. She was thinking on her feet, making a quick decision in her team’s best interests and taking action as a leader.
Hermione Granger was one of the most important leaders in the Harry Potter series. If it wasn't for some of her quick decisions and knowledge, "the chosen one" (Harry Potter) might not have been alive to complete his destiny of killing the Dark Lord.
In this scene from the first Harry Potter movie, Hagrid works up the courage to explain to Harry why he is famous and why everyone knows who he is. Hagrid knows that he is in danger by doing this. Notice how he says the Dark Lord's name very quietly. Hagrid was the first one to have the courage to answer the questions that Harry had that others would not answer.
In the following scene from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry's friends point out all of the things he has accomplished and Harry demonstrates humility. He is also reluctant to accept his greatness, but willing to use his strengths in service to others.
There are many leadership styles displayed throughout the Harry Potter series by many different characters.
As one would know, Harry Potter is the character who the series is based on. Most people looked up to him as a leader and powerful wizard before Harry himself knew he was a wizard. The main leadership trait he displays throughout the series is humility. He never recognizes his own importance and stays humble.

No one knew that Snape had loved Harry's mother. Throughout the whole series, Snape protects Harry Potter in secret ways. Harry is the child in the back of this picture.
